Opportunities at OSU

The Undergraduate Research Office (URO) provides information to students from all disciplines about research funding opportunities, resources, and several forums for undergraduate researchers to present their work. The URO is also a great starting point to tap into the networks of faculty and students with similar research interests.

URO's Peer Research Contacts are undergraduate students who are already involved in research in colleges and departments across campus and are willing to share their experiences.  f you're interested in a topic that a Peer Research Contact specializes in, send them an email! They will be happy to discuss their work and how they became involved in research.

Undergraduate Research Forums

Throughout the year, students have several opportunities to present their research, in both judged and non judged forums. Two of the most well attended are:

  • The Denman Undergraduate Research Forum provides a competitively judged arena for undergraduates to showcase their research projects and creative works with the University community.  Many CBC students present their research projects at the Denman, and our department is always well represented among the award winners.
  • The NMS Undergraduate Research Forum is for undergraduate students majoring in or conducting research in Actuarial Science, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Science, Evolution and Ecology, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Physics, and Zoology.  Many students use the NMS Research Forum as preparation for the Denman.
