Message from Yves :

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As we close this year, I cannot help thanking the Lord for all the ways He has worked in His Church here in Voronezh.
If the first 2 years here were characterized by numerical growth ( from about half a dozen people at the beginning we grew to over 40), this year was more an internal growth. We baptized a dozen people, thus giving us a Sunday attendance of about 50 to 60. But the Lord taught us very precious lessons that were only possible with what we went through. By far, it was the most difficult year that the Church and the leadership have experienced. Satan tried to divide and destroy the Church from within, but not only was he not successful, he made us stronger in our unity and convictions.
In fact, I thank the Lord that He exposed us to the tensions and confrontations we had. All of the leaders have changed because of that. According to T. Roosevelt, Volodia Karlinski speaks softly, but he has learned to carry a big stick (be open with the truth). Vladick is still the very warm and loving guy he has always been, but confrontations do not frighten him any more. Personally, I believe that the unity and the maturity of a church is strongly determined by the ability the members have to speak the truth with love. The example has to start with the leaders themselves.
The tribulations of the past year have taught us as well another important lesson : prayer. We all have grown tremendously in this. Acts 6:4 ( "we will give our attention to prayer and to the ministry of the word ") does not often characterize Church leaders. That is why God allows pressure in order to throw us to our knees.
Our two potential elders have greatly grown in their personal faith and their role in the church. Lord willing, I pray the Voronezh church will be able to appoint them this year.
I believe that the church is ready this year for a fruitful harvest of baptisms. Please join us on your knees in this battle. Thank you for your love and help for His work here.
May His Grace always touch you again,
Yves

Message from Volodia Karlinski:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This year was very fruitful both for the church and for me personally. God has blessed us in many ways. A few have been baptized, and some of them have great potential to be leaders like for instance, Andrey Lubutzin. As you know, our church was registered and that has given us many rights. Now we can freely and legally evangelize, invite foreigners, etc... ( for the first time Frank Chappell came to us with a one year visa that was issued because of our church invitation. )
Another encouraging thing for me was small prayers groups, which we now have regularly. As a rule, we leaders and any other willing people meet every morning, and it helps us to become more disciplined as well. God has already answered our many prayers. Until recently we had mostly young people and those of middle age. But now we are having more and more older people. It started with Tanya Griebenova's mother. She was baptized today the 2 nd of January by Frank Chappell in a very emotional ceremony. With tears in her eyes, she thanked the Lord for His patience toward her ( she is 72 years old ) and was very eager to be relieved of her burden of guilt. She has already brought to the Church several of her neighbors and friends. One older couple ( Natalia and Mitrophan ) are very special. They both are very sick and have serious problems in their family ( their 2 sons are alcoholics; they often get drunk and beat their old parents ) They live very far from the church meeting place, but in spite of all this they never have missed a worship service in the last 7 weeks. Natalia has told me that when she was feeling very sick, she would ask God to help her to get to the Church and He did help her every time ! That is a good lesson for those who often "don't feel good" and use that as an excuse for not coming to the services. Our 2 brothers, Volodia Skritski and Sergey Karmanof are successfully moving toward their future eldership. They are becoming more and more mature and confident.
This year was probably the most difficult one for this Church. The problems with one particular member hurt all of us very much, but now I can see how God has used all this for our good. Unfortunately, unfaithfulness will appear in the church from time to time, and we need to know how to deal with it.
We had a special worship service on the 26 Th of December and it was very encouraging; we had more than 75 people. Thank you for all of you who have sent the theater pieces. We performed a special play for the season and it was very well received by the members and visitors.  We have been invited to repeat the performance in homes for the elderly and an orphanage.
Last year, the Lord did great things in His Church, and I believe He will do even more in this year.
Thank you very much for your prayers and support.
In Christ,
Volodia

Message from Vladick :

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
I wish you to see all your desires fulfilled as well as spiritual blessings and growth in the Lord.
For me this past year was filled with both sadness and joy, but joy prevailed. Of all the tribulations and hardships that fell upon the Church, God in His grace has used them for our good. The spiritual growth among the members of the Church is very visible. Many have been strengthened in their faith and in the truth. I could never imagine that my coming to Voronezh more than 3 years ago would bring me such blessings. To see under my very eyes how the Church is growing ( spiritually and numerically ), and to realize that in all this my imput was a part of it, really gives me hope for the future. My heart is overflowing with joy because I was able to study the Bible and baptize personally 6 persons this year. This is very little, but I thank the Lord for this.
Our leadership has grown with 2 new men : Volodia Skritski and Sergey Karmanov. We hope that those 2 brothers will become elders in the Church. They are really fantastic. I would like as well to say that this year, the unity among the leaders and among the members of the Church has grown very strongly. Praise the Lord for all His wonderful deeds !
Every new person who comes to the Church feels the love that reigns here, and this too brings joy to my heart. Of course, one of the greatest joys of this year was for me to meet and marry the love of my life, Olga. She is a wonderful person with a very responsive and kind heart; but best of all, she really loves God. She loves children and people very much as well, and her dream is to have a children's ministry in the Church.
Dear Brothers and Sisters, I thank you for your support, for your prayers for us, and for your unselfish service.
May the Lord bless you for your sacrifices
With the love in Christ,
Vladik
