Undergraduate students with an interest in chemistry are invited to participate in the activities of the OSU Chemistry Club. This informal organization meets periodically during the academic year. There are no dues or required meetings; interested students can have their names placed on a mailing list to receive announcements of upcoming topics and events.
Meetings in past years have dealt with many aspects of chemistry, including:
- the interfaces of chemistry with the law, medicine, the environment, and biotechnology;
- undergraduate research opportunities;
- tours of the OSU laser facility, Chemical Abstracts Service, the OSU supercomputer center, and instrumentation center;
- and talks on topics of current research interest in the OSU Department of Chemistry.
Students need not be majoring in chemistry to participate in activities.
Information and applications to become an Affiliate member of the American Chemical Society can be obtained from Carol Gaertner in the undergraduate chemistry office, in 100 Celeste, 292-1204.
