What we do:
We provide support for design, modification, repair and maintenance of
chemical instrumentation for the Department of Chemistry including firmware
support, computerization, chip level repair, design of control and data
acquisition hardware, and design of fast and low noise signal processing
equipment. We also provide power and environment surveys to diagnose
instrumental problems and to support the Ethernet physical layer design and
maintenance.
Service Request Submission:
Service requests are filed by filling out a CISG Service Request Form (See
attached example) and submitting it to the CISG at 1130 NW. Verbal and
email requests are not accepted.
Parts and electronic supplies are also available at replacement cost.
Charges:
Parts are sold at replacement cost.
Only parts used in the delivered repair or
design are charged to the requester.
Labor Costs - $6.00 per hour in 0.25 hour increments.
Repair and design labor costs are charged for
work which results in a deliverable solution.
Common Difficulties to be Avoided:
- Never buy an instrument without complete service schematics. CISG can
not and does not attempt to make repairs on undocumented equipment.
Repairs will be delayed until schematics can be acquired.
- Unless you really believe that you can complete the repair, please do
not disassemble equipment prior to bringing it to the CISG for repairs.
- Include all symptoms and problems on the service request. Make sure the
requester's name, room number, building and phone number are legible.
- The "Prof." entry should be the person or course account which will be
charged for the service request. Caley accounts will be charged unless
another account number is included.
