Clicking this
link will load a Java-based SSH client applet, which will
allow you to establish a secure connection to the Department of Chemistry UNIX server.
The applet will load from a new page that will pop open in your
browser. This page must stay open for the connection to continue. You
can still surf to any other page on the web, but leave the applet's
initial page open as long as you want your SSH connecion to chemistry.
In the 'SSH User Authentication' window, type your chemistry UNIX username
and password and hit 'login.'
Note for Macintosh users: If you are
using a Macintosh, the SSH window may initially appear very small on
your screen. However, if you drag it open larger, the fonts will scale
to fill the window. (This same scaling of fonts works on any platform.)
Note for Netscape users: In Netscape
version 4.x and lower, the enter/return key will not work. For users
of early versions of Netscape we are temporarily maintaining
a link to the Mindterm applet on chemistry. Recent versions of Netscape (6 and
above), Mozilla, and Internet Explorer don't have this problem. Consider
upgrading to
Netscape 7+,
Mozilla, or
IE.
