Teaching Assistantships and Fellowships
Our offers are extremely competitive. First-year students
entering in 2006 will receive a stipend between $20,000 and $24,000 during their first year. In addition, tuition and fees are paid by the University for all students receiving a fellowship or GTA from Ohio State. There are a variety of multiple-year fellowships and scholarships, including departmental and University fellowships and support through a CBI training grant from the National Institutes of Health. The GTA's duties involve approximately eight student contact hours plus grading and preparation time each week. The eight contact hours include a combination of recitation sections, laboratory periods and office hours. For example, in the general chemistry program, most GTA's lead two one-hour recitation sections, one three-hour lab and hold two hours of office hours each week.
