- Note: You will need the following information to successfully complete
this installation:
TCP/IP Address or Name of your CrossFire
Server: Beilstein.library.wisc.edu
License Group Name: Ohiostat
User ID: ostgm
Password: h82-awy5
- Download the self-extracting file bc2000xf-winset.exe to a temporary
directory on your hard drive. Launching this file creates a directory
"bc2000xf-set" in the defined target directory (the default is in your
Windows TEMP directory).
- Run the setup.exe file located in directory "bc2000xf-set" and follow
the prompts.
- Autonom Standard is included in the Beilstein Commander 2000, version
5.0 installation.
- You will be prompted for a destination directory in which to install
Commander. You may choose the default (C:\Program Files\Bc2000) or a
user-defined directory.
- The installer will uninstall any previous versions of Commander on
your system before continuing with installation of the current version.
- You will now be prompted for the Program folder. Choose the default.
- You will be prompted for the TCP/IP address or name of your CrossFire
server. Enter "Beilstein.library.wisc.edu" (minus the quotes).
- Next you will be prompted for the license group name to which you
belong. Enter "Ohiostat" in both boxes.
- The last screen before the actual copying of files will confirm
your choices.
- After the files are copied, click on the "Finish" button.
- After program installation is complete, launch Beilstein Commander
2000 and click on the CrossFire button (2 crossed red arrows) to initiate
a connection. To continue first-time program setup, you need to enter
the userid and password for your university. For OSU, those are "ostgm" &
"h82-awy5", respectively - all in lowercase. If you don't want to be
prompted for the user id and password each time you use Commander, check
the "save userid and password" box.
- After all the above steps are completed, a default profile set up
with appropriate settings, and so forth, you may want to set Beilstein
Commander up such that when you start the program, a connection is
automatically
made to the server. To do this, from the main menubar in Beilstein Commander,
choose /Options/Startup Tasks..., then select the "CrossFire" radio button,
and hit OK.
