Network Setup via DHCP
NOTE: The majority of Department computers will be using
dynamically-assigned IP addresses. Please see our FAQ, How
do I configure my PC or Mac to use DHCP, for detailed setup
instructions.
Network Setup via Static IP Address
For those few computers needing a static IP address, the following
information should be useful. Most of these instructions are
designed to help users configure their Windows PCs or Macs; however
the values given for subnet mask, router/gateway address,
nameservers, and search domains apply to all computers in the
Department.
General Static IP Address Setup
IP Address: (use the IP address assigned to your computer)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0
Router/Gateway Address: 128.146.232.1
DNS (Domain Name Servers): 128.146.235.235, 128.146.37.10, 128.146.1.7
Search Domains: chemistry.ohio-state.edu, mps.ohio-state.edu
Broadcast (if needed; e.g., on Linux machines): 128.146.235.255
