The Computer Support staff maintains many E-mail lists, aliases and nicknames.
These lists and aliases are implemented in a variety of ways, which makes
it very difficult to describe a general method by which a user could determine
who is on a given list or by which names a single user is known to the server.
To remedy this situation, we have provided methods through our web pages
to find out who is on a given list or under an alias.
-
List All Email Aliases
To determine who is on a given list, you can access a page which lists
all of the aliases and lists maintained on the chemistry E-mail server and
offers each as a link. If you follow the link above, you will see the
recipients of the alias or list.
This method is useful if you want to browse through the names of all
mailing lists and aliases.
- Inquire Email Alias to
be expanded
Another method allows you to enter an arbitrary name, and the script will either
expand that name (list or alias), or let you know that such a mailing address
doesn't exist on the chemistry server.
This method is useful if you want to find out if a particular name or
address that you have for somebody is valid, and if so, who the potential
recipient is.
