1    Lab Introduction

1.2    What we do:

We train faculty, staff and students to utilize the mass spectrometers to perform mass analysis for chemical compound identification and/or confirmation.

1.3    Accessing the Mass Spectropy Services:


First time users must contact the Lab Manager for an introduction to the lab's procedures. Additionally, every users needs to have a user agreement on file in the facility. Click here to download the agreement then delivery the copy to me in Evans 0073 (usually). All Mass Spec usage is to be scheduled via the sign up calendars. Scheduling is on a first come first serve basis. There are no exceptions to this rule.

A note about training:

I am available for training on Mondays and Thursday, 9 am to noon and 1 pm to 5 pm. You will need to reserve your training on the schedule during these times, then please send me an email to inform me that your appointment is a training session.

Click here to access the calendar. The group name is OSU_MASS, user names are provided by the manager upon turning in the agreement form.

Please remember that after hour lab access is a privilage. Each student will be granted access on an individual basis according to the lab manager. Any student who fails to follow these policies will be limited to supervised access times.

1. Your usage needs to be reserved on the calendar prior to beginning the measurements.
2. You must have a 100w on file for the month inorder to continue access to the lab.
3. The calendar is available at 15 minute increments and you will be charged for your scheduled time on the calendar. 
4. Students using the instrument will be held responsible for damage to the instrument whether intentional or accidental. (So do not allow anyone to use your ID to access the lab.)
5. If your access does not work for any reason, please contact the lab manager. The problem can not be corrected if the manager does not know it exists.
6. Access to the one instrument does not open access to the other under any conditions.
